Artist's Description

One of the nicest times of day to take a leisurely ride among the Thousand Islands is early evening, just as the sun is setting. The busy hub-bub of jet-skis, speed boats and larger tour boats have usually died down and day visitors have left for home. If the trip happens to be in a beautiful antique mahogany water craft, so much the better. The scene here is looking up river, just below the ‘Lake of the Isles’, between Rockport, Ontario, Canada and Alexandria Bay, New York, on the mighty St. Lawrence River.

The Thousand Islands region of Ontario, Canada, was the perfect backdrop for a childhood filled with adventure for Richard De Wolfe, an artist who still identifies strongly with rural life. The forests, fields, and of course the mighty St. Lawrence River, made the wonders of nature come alive for him. The art of Richard De Wolfe has been very popular ever since his first one-man show at the age of eighteen. That show was a sell out, supplying him with commissions for many months after.
