Artist's Description

This old tractor belongs to a friend of mine. For many years it has rested in a fence corner on his farm, just begging to be restored. It is actually quite small, with a Ford Model "T" engine, a wooden seat and steel wheels. I was amazed to discover that it was a 1928 model Toro, according to a small brass plate on the dash board. It originally belonged to the University of Guelph where it was used in the lawn maintenance department. The bird perched on the steering wheel is a Meadow Lark. These birds are a common and welcome site on many farms in North America. They are well loved for their beautiful, melodic song.
