Artist's Description

Almost 100 years ago, on April 21, 1918, German air ace Baron Manfred Von Richthofen, flying an all red Fokker Triplane, was shot down over the Western Front. Since that time there has been controversy as t who fired the fatat shot that brought down the Blood Red Baron of Germany. Captain Brown was pursuing and firing on the red triplane while Australian artillery and soldiers also fired from the ground. The Red Baron was fatally hit by one bullet in the melee and crashed to the earth. Captain Brown was officially credited with the kill and received a bar to his DSC for doing so.
