Artist's Description

I grew up on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, in the Thousand Island Region of Ontario. Directly across the river from my home town of Rockport, is Alexandria Bay, NY. Heart Island lies right in front of Alexandria Bay, and this island is the site of Boldt's Castle. George Boldt built the castle in the 1800's as a wedding present for his wife. The Stone Arch was built as a grand entrance to the inner harbour for small craft and tenders coming from from larger yachts anchored in deep water. The inner harbour was known as the Swan Pond and featured a draw-bridge across the entrance as part of the Prominade.
